Nil Parvat at Trimbakeshwar
Perched on the eastern edges of the Brahmagiri hills, Neel
Parbat is a prominent but barely explored tourists attraction of Trimbakeshwar.
The lush green hill is blessed with awe-inspiring scenery and breath-taking
views of the Trimbakeshwar hill. On the crest, there lies a row of temples of
Matamba Devi, Nilambika, along with the ancient temples of Nilkantheshwar
Mahadev and Sadguru Dattatreya; there's a myth that God Dattatreya was born
here. Apart from them, the most significant amongst all the temples, is the
Bilwa Tirtha, one of the five tirthas in Panch Tirtha Yatra. Bilkeshwar, and
Parashuram are the other famous temples on Neel Parbat. Dashnami Panchayati - a
matha or Akhada of the Naga Gosavi sect also adorns the hill
Bringing solace to the soul, an array of hill top temples help
you establish a solemn connection with God. The rugged cliff mountains and
beautiful trails, make it a perfect location for mountaineering, nature walks,
trekking, etc.
GETTING
THERE
To reach the temple at
the top, it takes to climb more than 200 steps, and if one wants to avoid that,
an option to hire an auto rickshaw from Trimbakeshwar temple comes handy.
Trimbakeshwar is well-connected by the state owned bus services of Maharashtra
Road Transport Corporation (MRTC). Nearest railway station is Nashik, which is
one of the major railway stations connected to all major cities in India.
