Panchavati - Sita Gupha Travelling in Nashik

Sita Gupha is one of the significant milestones in the Panchavati area of Nashik and is situated very near to the Kala Ram mandir. Panchavati has a spiritual meaning and is believed to be the place where Lord Ram, Mata Sita and Lord. Lakshman waited in the course of their 14 years exile (vanavas).

Sita Gupha is a fine cave and is believed to be the place where Sita stayed for security when Ram and Lakshman used to go out in exploration of food.

The arrival of the cave is very narrow and one has to transfer this to enter a channel like structure to reach the basement. In the cellar, one could need the Darshan of the Ram and Sita idols and assign back.

Mention Senior Citizens and obese people to escape incoming the cave since one has to crawl-in at several places. In addition the multitude about makes the whole procedure very relaxed and many a time overpowering. The entire Darshan could be finished in 5 minutes if there is less crowd.

This place was called Panchavati owing to the five banyan trees which are supposed to have occurred from the past days (Panch is five and vati-/ vad is banyan in Hindi). One could detect five banyan trees organized to Sita Gupha.

Inside Sita Gupha

You have to bend down to go through it. there are steps which goes down and then goes up. so mostly people sit on steps and go inside the gufa. the height of the gufa is around 2.5 to 3 feet and it becomes narrow as you go inside. so very obese people or people have breathing issue may have problem visiting the gufa.

It hardly takes one minute to cover the gufa. there are two small spaces/rooms in the gufa. in the first space, the idols of lord rama, laxmana and ma sita are there. in the next adjoining space, shivalinga is there and then you come out from the gufa by climbing up the steps. photography is banned inside the premises and you need to switch off the camera also.
